« The Sound of Macho »
We have heard the sound of macho and boy are we excited! From seemingly out of nowhere has come the most macho band to date, Helmet Head. Born in 2004 in the tough clubs of New York City, this band of 5 macho men have unleashed a torrent of spectacular manly groans - Fast Eddie on the keys, Luke on the guitarama, Mike on the bass, Brad Esq on drums and the magnificent vocal stylings of a very macho man, Connell.
"We love music and being manly men," says Connell. "Hey where is my beer? I can't do an interview without a beer. I love Mas Macho. Can I become a member?" These were the inspirational words from a very macho man.
Starting with the smooth sounds of the hit song, "Cuba", Helmet Head takes you on a journey through their influences of Phish, Talking Heads, Cake, REM, Elvis Costello, Replacements, Velvet Underground, The Grateful Dead, The Great String Cheese Incident, Sublime, Tenacious D, Joe Jackson, Traffic, The Band, Bob Dylan, Jonathan Richman, The English Beat, The Clash, Smashing Pumpkins, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Fishbone, Bruce Springsteen, Pavement, The Beatles, Dr. John, Ben Folds Five, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Ramones, Jimi Hendrix and his Band of Gypsies, Richard Cheese, The Jam, The Specials, Material Issue, AWOL, Robin Hitchcock, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Bee Gees, The Bogmen, Rollins Band, The Skafflaws, Black Flag, Dramadare, Peace Frogs, Neil Young, Pixies, Hymen Holocaust, Fingerbang, The Rejects, Sebado, Archers of Loaf, Violent Femmes, Black Crowes, Rolling Stones, Blues Traveler, Superchunk, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Blind Melon, Dinosaur Jr, Dave Matthews Band, Tom Petty, Sex Pistols, Jerry Garcia Band and the ever wonderful Faith + 1.
