Perod "Lopedog" Lope
Enigmatic, pragmatic, sensual and dangerous are words often used to describe Lopedog by those that love him and hate him.
Lopedog was born in Astoria, Queens in New York City, as Perod Lope. His father Joshua Lope was a painter and his mother Patricia was a schoolteacher. They were simple people living good religious lives.
Perod found he had a love for writing when he received his first alphabet book. He would furiously copy all the letters in every combination until he would wear down a crayon and then start over again. His mother, fearing Perod's behavior as the work of the devil, restrained Perod's hand with rosary beads. Perod soon learned to control his enthusiasm for writing by keeping his thoughts locked away in his head.
Perod assumed the name Lopedog in high school. He has always said that he felt like a dog that was always looking for a hydrant to urinate on or a smell to follow.
Lopedog published his first work in 1982 and has not stopped writing, publishing and pontificating. Some critics have called him "brilliant", others "lousy" and most "strange". We feel that his work reveals the underpinnings of the male species and deserves its place amongst literary greats.
